Content Area: Videography, Visual Arts, and Entrepreneurship
Project Overview: Students explored the link and connection between art and economy and learned how these concepts impacted the daily life of local communities in Oaxaca. They gained an understanding of how the artistic traditions of Oaxaca, such as weaving and pottery, have influenced the economy of the region. Through visits to local markets and workshops, they were able to see firsthand how local artisans used their skills to support their families and communities. Additionally, they learned about the challenges facing these artisans in a global economy and the importance of preserving traditional art forms.
Summative Product: Students created a documentary on the intersection of art and economy in the various villages in Oaxaca.
